休養月餘的洋基隊「神之子」田中將大，昨日以強勢投球來重返大聯盟賽場，客場對美西勁旅水手隊7局瘋狂奪9次三振只被敲3安打、0保送、失1分，率隊3比1奪勝，這也是他本季第3勝。
田中在4月下旬被診斷出右前臂一級拉傷與手腕肌腱發炎，而列入15日傷兵名單。有不少人質疑他去年的肘傷未癒，名人堂球星佩卓馬丁尼茲在看過田中的洋基隊開幕戰被打爆後，更直言他的傷勢可能只復原65％。
田中昨日復出首戰，至少證明自己仍足以拿勝投。他賽前被設定80球為限，然而他控球隨心，精簡的只用78球就投完7局，特別是他對決水手兩大主炮坎諾、N.克魯茲（暫居大聯盟全壘打榜第1、去年大聯盟全壘打王）完全居上風，合計6打數0安打。
田中進傷兵名單前，快速球減速也令人懷疑「內情不簡單」恐仍有傷，他昨役就飆出本季個人最快時速96哩（約154.5公里）的速球給所有人看。他說：「這是很棒先發，但也就1場罷了，我可以慶祝但不能高興過頭，明天起我要為下次先發作準備。」
落敗的水手隊和響尾蛇隊進行6人交易，以農場第5號新秀G.葛雷諾等4名球員換來強打川波以強化火力。
金鶯昨又貧打，在太空人菜鳥投手麥可雷斯9局完投裡，只敲出4安打、11三振，而1比3落敗。也就是說，台灣時間今晨先發的陳偉殷就肩負了中止金鶯5連敗的重任。
